His dissertation focused on the contributions of mother, father, and friend attachment and social provisions to adolescent psychosocial development. Current research interests center around the social-developmental factors related to child and adolescent development (e.g., parents, peers, music), family and ecological systems theories, identity and positive youth development, and spiritualiy/religiosity across the lifespan.

Research Support

Lilly Foundation Grant (2004-2005): A 16-month study on the psychosocial experiences of urban youth as they connect with the competencies and programs of urban youth service providers.

A Little bit About Me

I am a soon-to-be middle-aged professor and researcher coming to terms with my love for 80’s rock music, the long lost dream of becoming a professional hockey player, and the search for the perfect cup of anything-but-Starbucks coffee.
