I am interested in the development of social cognition (e.g., children’s ability to perceive and make inferences about other people’s beliefs and intentions) and its relation to the acquisition of language and communicative abilities. Within the Speech Development Lab, my research examines how aspects of speaker variability (e.g., gender, differences in spoken language) may influence infants' ability to map novel labels onto objects.

My research focuses on phonology and phonetics and in particular, on prosodic phenomena across languages. I am interested in the manifestation of various prosodic structures (stress, tone, focus, intonation) in adults and children. My goals are twofold; a) to inform the linguistic typology of prosody and b) to study the developmental process of more complex prosodic structures (e.g., compound stress, clitic stress, etc.) with a focus on the production properties of children.
